The People of Cascadia: A NW Native American History Workshop
Step back in time. Educators, students and families will enjoy this all-day workshop. Be challenged by traditional Pacific NW Native American seasonal hands-on skills building activities. Presenter and lead teacher is Heidi Bohan, author of "The People of Cascadia: Pacific Northwest Native American History." Guests will enjoy a variety of activities at 'station's' set up in the Duwamish Longhouse including Celestial Time-Keeping; Tool Making, Cordage and Nets, Traditional Foods and Traditional Medicines. These stations will be geared to a variety of skill levels; with each station offering an 'Educators' activity that can be used in education programs with youth and an advanced activity for each person to make a sample object such as fish knives, fiber and net, or healing salve from native plants, or to sample traditional foods and more. Children must shadow parents at all times. Lunch is provided. Enrolled Duwamish members should call tribal office for workshop scholarship.
