REGRETROSEXUAL
The Phoenix Arts Theater San Francisco, CA
Written and performed by stand-up comedy favorite Dan Rothenberg, REGRETROSEXUAL offers a singular look at the complexities of contemporary romance. In this autobiographical solo show, Dan, now living in LA, is preparing to go out on a date with his girlfriend, Steph. It's not just any date. This is their six month anniversary and Steph is the woman Dan wants to marry. But before he poses that question, Dan just needs to tell Steph one little thing. Nothing big. Just that he had a couple of gay experiences. Well, three years worth. While living in San Francisco. Is that a big deal? Dan hopes not. Surely Steph wouldn't associate this with a previous boyfriend, who announced he was gay and promptly left her. This is the complete opposite. Right? REGRETROSEXUAL is the hilarious exploration of the fluidity of sexuality and how it effects those caught somewhere in the middle. More then anything, it's the story of one man's struggle to forge an identity in these complicated times. And then reforge it. And then, thanks to chronic low-esteem, he reforges it once again.
