The evening kicks off at 7pm with a VIP reception hosted by John Medeski sharing wines from his private collection and accompanied by hors d'oeuvres from local chefs. This reception offers VIP ticket holders a chance to mingle with all the evening's featured musicians.
8pm Concert of eclectic music begins in the intimate setting of High Meadow's Performing Arts Center. John Medeski defies musical categories. Known for his keyboarding, he seeks the transformative nature of music through the vibrational energy it creates, and draws upon his classical roots which paved the way to his exploration of jazz, funk, blues and soul. Medeski is a founding member of the trio, Medeski, Martin & Wood, who have performed around the world.
Elizabeth Mitchell and Dan Littleton are nationally known artists appearing in several bands including folk rock band, Ida and their family music band, You are My Flower. Known for their quiet and beautiful harmonies, they draw upon folk, punk and other American musical influences. They have appeared on a number of NPR programs, and the Showtime series, "This American Life."
Pianist, multi-instrumentalist, composer Jamie Saft joins the evening's collaboration with his jazz, blues, and reggae interpretations. Saft's stylistic versatility, multi-instrumentalist capabilities, and production skills have been featured with Beastie Boys, Bad Brains, The B-52's, John Zorn, John Adams, Donovan, Antony and the Johnsons, and scores of other artists. Saft leads the New Zion Trio and is a core member of bands such as Whoopie Pie, OV, and Kalashnikov.
Proceeds benefit High Meadow begin_of_the_skype_highlightingend_of_the_skype_highlighting School and will help offset tuition costs, increasing the school's ability to expand our student body beyond only those who can afford it.
