For this special On-the-Road concert made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts, Caffe Lena brings folk music to the banks of the Battenkill River in the village of Shushan in Washington County. The freshly renovated Community Room at The Georgi on the Battenkill Community Park and Museum will be the site of tonight's concert with Harpeth Rising.
Called "an Americana sensation," and "the future of original string music," Harpeth Rising was named for a small but powerful river in Tennessee, and that it struck us that that made them the perfect ensemble for tonight's special setting! They create original songs that layer rich instrumental arrangements with four-part harmonies and lyrics that depict wanderlust, eternal curiosity, class struggle and extraordinary love.In addition to their wealth of original songs and traditional ballads, Harpeth loves to experiment with the standards of classic rock. Audiences are delighted by their renditions of "Stairway to Heaven" and "House of the Rising Sun."
