For more than thirty years, the urban planning legend, Jan Gehl, has studied public spaces to determine why they work or fail.
An architect and senior lecturer of urban design and director of the Center for Public Space Research at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts' School of Architecture in Copenhagen, Gehl has authored or co-authored "Life Between Buildings--Using Public Space," "Public Spaces Public Life," and "New City Spaces.
As a principal with Gehl Architects, he has provided urban planning consultation to cities in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland, the UK, Belgium, Czech Republic, Holland, Spain, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia and the United States.
