Soul Tools Presents: Blueprint "King No Crown" Tour w/ DJ Rare Groove, Supastition, Greg Grease, and Freez

10:30pm doors/11pm showtime

Blueprint:

With his fourth studio album, King No Crown, critically acclaimed mc/producer Blueprint has continued his constant evolution by combining the boom-bap chops of his 2014 project Respect the Architect (Weightless Recordings) with the genre-defying aesthetic of his 2011 album Adventures in Counter-Culture (Rhymesayers Entertainment).  The end result is 60-minutes of uninterrupted music that effortlessly transitions from song to song without a single moment of pause or silence, a meticulous production effort handled entirely by Blueprint.   Lyrically, Blueprint provides his trademark honestypaying tribute to hip-hop, lost loved ones, and the legacy of fallen artists Eyedea and J. Dillamaking King No Crown his most personal and conceptual project to date.

Supastition:

In an era where hip hop turns its nose up at anything remotely resembling old school unless it's done by retro-crazed teenagers, it is very rare for an artist to accept as well as appeal to their true age group. While most rappers go to great lengths to prove their street credibility, other rappers spend their careers trying to convince others of how underground and true to hip hop that they are. North Carolina native, Kam Moye, is no longer concerned with fitting in or living up to other people's expectations of him as an artist or as a person.  His remarkable wordplay has landed his voice on tracks alongside KRS One, Little Brother, Royce the 5'9, Elzhi (Slum Village), Stoupe (Jedi Mind Tricks), Marco Polo, Rasco, 9th Wonder, Skyzoo, Cunninlynguists, Bahamadia, Marco Polo, Akrobatik, J-Live, Torae, and many others.

Greg Grease:

The beats on Greg Grease's late-2012 release Cornbread, Pearl & G are a decidedly fresh mix of smoky turntablist throwbacks, jazzy loops, and psychedelic textures, but they're just the trimmings for his meaty rhymes. A master of cadence, mood, speed, and content, the Minneapolis rapper could have released all of the tracks a capella and they'd still glisten.

Freez:

With the ever-present raw topicality, soul-baring writing, and classic microphone skills in Freez's raps, he's become a staple of Minneapolis' storied Southside hip-hop scene. Meticulously technical flows and unflinching subject matter are immediately recognizable in every song Freez touches, but his open-book sensibilities push material beyond the verbal acrobatics. Combining a laid-back demeanor with rapid-fire rhyme patterns, Freez makes it look easy.
