Description
The Friends of Judy Finelli and Circus Center present

A PICKLE CIRCUS TRIBUTE TO JUDY FINELLI
Monday, June 20, 2005
at the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco

to benefit the Judy Finelli Fund at Circus Center

Thirty years ago, the Pickle Family Circus was conceived with ebullient enthusiasm in a spirit of love and passion, and it changed the American circus forever. That spirit and heart live on in the people who train and teach at San Francisco's Circus Center, and in the heritage of the woman who started it.  Judy Finelli, juggler, teacher, director and circus enthusiast created the San Francisco School of Circus Arts with Wendy Parkman in 1984, as the teaching arm of the Pickle Family Circus. The school, which eventually acquired the Pickle Circus, is now the core of Circus Center.

In 1989, Judy was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis). Although she had to physically leave her beloved school, she remained its driving spirit and maintained a keen interest in its activities.  Recently, Judy has become increasingly involved with Circus Center's Clown Conservatory, the only school for professional clowns in North America. Her help has proved invaluable, for students and teachers alike. Today, we wish to increase significantly her presence at the Center for two simple reasons:  to allow Circus Center ongoing access to her knowledge and insight; and to support Judy in continuing to work for her passion, whatever the physical logistics involved and the additional expenses incurred. To this end, we have decided to create a Judy Finelli Fund at Circus Center. We need your help to make it work!

To raise the necessary funds and to honor Judy's knowledge, courage and compassion, we will come together and celebrate, levitate and laugh: we invite you to join us for an evening of clowning, juggling and circus arts, featuring, among others, Avner the Eccentric, Sara Felder, Fool Time Circus, Aloysia Gavre, John Gilkey, Geoff Hoyle, Joan Mankin, Larry Pisoni, Lorenzo Pisoni, Karen Quest, Jeff Raz, the latest crop of San Francisco's Clown Conservatory Students, the Pickle Family Circus Band (back by popular demand!) and many more! Don't miss this extraordinary, one-time-only extravaganza! And, if you can't be with us, you still can make a tax-deductible donation to the Judy Finelli Fund. Thank you for your generous support!
