Random Access Music Presents: RAM Noir
RAM Noir
A concert of world premiere works composed by members of Random Access Music to be performed by The Gotham Ensemble, an acoustic, instrumental ensemble. The lineup includes new chamber works by B. Allen Schulz, Erin Rogers, David Fetherolf, Jonathan Pieslak, Manly Romero, and Gilbert Galindo.
RANDOM ACCESS MUSIC is a consortium of composers who pool their energy and resources to produce concerts of their own music. Founded in 2005, RAM's programs are frequently designed in collaboration with specific chamber group and artist collaborators such as Lost Dog New Music Ensemble, Iktus Percussion Quartet, Anubis Saxophone Quartet, and violinist Jessica Mathaes. RAM's eight members together have earned a long list of awards, commissions and critical acclaim from coast to coast, including kudos from periodicals such as the New York Times and Time Out New York: "remarkably inspired," "personal, moody and skillfully wrought," "quirky, sparkling...fresh sounds," "powerful and intense;" and "causes you to prick up your ears." RAM's current roster: B. Allen Schulz, Erin Rogers, David Fetherolf, Stefan Weisman, Jonathan Pieslak, Manly Romero, Gilbert Galindo, and Andrew McKenna Lee.
THE GOTHAM ENSEMBLE is a New York-based chamber ensemble led by clarinetist Tom Piercy which premieres, performs and records a wide variety of repertoire from classical to avant-garde. The New York Times review of Gotham's recent Merkin Hall performance raved "go out and purchase the recordings." In response to Gotham's performance of Ned Rorem's Ariel at Weill Recital Hall, Mr. Rorem wrote that "Gotham is one of America's important chamber music groups," setting the stage for recording the CD Gotham Ensemble Plays Ned Rorem, recently released on Albany Records.
