Short Stories Live: Voices of Young Women
Town Hall Seattle Seattle, WA
The song says it's a man's world, but these short stories, about young women surviving in a male world, prove otherwise. Works on the program include Joyce Carol Oates' "Upholstery," about a teenager who finds herself helplessly attracted to a dangerous older man; Mary McCarthy's autobiographical "Cye," about her Catholic upbringing; and Sarah Orne Jewett's "A White Heron," about a young city girl who discovers her passion for country life and her love for the animals that inhabit it. Presented by Town Hall with ACT - A Contemporary Theatre. Series supported by the Thurston Charitable Foundation.
