Start time: 10:00 AM Finish time: 3:30 PM
This is the first in a series of monthly guided nature hikes. It is an opportunity to learn about nature in the company of like-minded individuals, with an experienced naturalist as your guide. Think of it as a private mobile nature class.
The format is simple: We will stop whenever we like to look at things we come across, be it plants, trees, birds, insects, mammals, reptiles & amphibians, fungi or anything else. It will be up to the group to decide what they are interested in.
Attendance is limited to 12 people in order to provide an intimate participant-to-leader ratio.
Physical requirements: Must be able to comfortably walk up to 6 km over trails with some slopes.
Additional monthly outings are planned for June through Sept.
ABOUT THE LEADER: I am a professional naturalist with more than 25 years of experience. Over the years I have done walks, talks and workshops for more than 70 organizations including universities, naturalist clubs, nature festivals, and nature centres. I have also worked as a staff naturalist at Algonquin Provincial Park.
My website is at http://natureknowledge.weebly.com.
