Birds of Bodega Bay
It was no accident that Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 movie "The Birds" was filmed here. Bodega Bay is listed as a "Globally Important Bird Area," because it is a migrant stopover and wintering area for water birds and shorebirds. This outing will search for birds in a variety of habitats, including pelagic, sandy beach, mudflat, rocky headland, coastal bay, lagoon, and coastal. During this outing, the group will observe birds in a variety of habitats, including pelagic, sandy beach, mudflat, rocky headland, coastal bay, lagoon, and coastal scrub. There is a $6 parking fee to park at Doran Spit. Easy walking. Guide: Ken Wilson Carpool from: Dance Palace Community Center, 503 B Street, Point Reyes Station, at 8:00 am. (Or meet in Bodega Bay at Porto Bodega parking lot at 9:00 am. Travel north on Route 1 into the town of Bodega Bay; continue further north on Route 1. Turn left onto Eastshore Road, where a brown sign points toward Bodega Head. At the bottom of the hill, continue straight ahead to the large gravel parking area.)
