DANCE TEACHERS:

FATAWU SAYIBU, AFRICAN DANCE
From the Northern Region of Ghana, Fatawu Sayibu comes from a drumming family of many generations.  His traditional dances and use of the talking drum tell the stories of his culture, country and people.  Over the summers, Fatawu is a performer, teacher, choreographer and mentor of children through the M'bangba Culture Drum and Dance School in Tamale, Ghana.  During the school year, he directs and teaches an African dance program for young people at the Carter G. Woodson Academy in Minneapolis, and has a dance and drumming program for adults and families at the Fall Out Studio in Minneapolis.  He is also founder of Tiyumba Dance and Drum Company, which performs regularly in Minnesota.  Fatawu believes fervently that African music and dance bring joy, create peace, love and unity in all cultures.

CHINI PEREZ, AFROCUBAN
From Cuba, Chini Perez has been a professional dancer for the last twenty years.  Under the direction of Francisco Zamora (Mimini), Chini was both a dancer and choreographer in Cuba's dance company Afrocuba de Matanzas, participating in national events as well as international tours in Africa and Europe.  Currently Chini directs two performance teams, Rueda de la Calle and Chini Company.  He has a dance school called Chini Studio in Minneapolis, where he offers classes in Cuban style salsa and Afrocuban.
