Butterfield 8 presents LADY WINDERMERE'S FAN

As Lady Windermere prepares for the dance celebrating her 21st birthday, she must fend off the flirtations of an unwanted suitor, attempt to ignore the gossip of a catty Duchess, and deal with the dawning suspicion her husband is deceiving her - all before the end of tea. Who knows what the rest of the evening has in store!

The first of Oscar Wilde's plays to see production, Lady Windermere's Fan takes us through a fantastical series of misunderstandings and deceptions in Victorian London's high society. The farce showcases Wilde's trademark wit while (like many of his comedies) providing a biting satire on the morals of Victorian society and the institution of marriage.
