Church of Great Rain - Love In The Afternoon
Church of Great Rain is a variety show delivered in the community spirit of A Prairie Home Companion and with the comedic edge of Monty Python. The show continues to attract regular 'Church goers' from all walks of life -- including people who can't walk. We should mention, the humor borders on irreverence. But not religious irreverence per se. Just general weirdness, which is "The Vashon Way." It's a portrait of life and living on a small, mystical island somewhere in the greater Puget Sound and in the shadow of a live volcano. There's a cadre of characters that inspire a boundless supply of material for poking fun at Vashon's weirdness. Yet there's always a story or two that transcends the Church's satiric silliness.
And the music is always top notch. Church of Great Rain's February 13th show will feature Publish The Quest. Publish The Quest formed in 2008 and released there 1st album soon after, titled; The Threads. Produced and recorded by Mell Dettmer, the group is getting ready to release their second album, Then What!? Which features Femi Kuti, Matt Chamberlain, Eyvind Kang, and Radioactive. The band blends groove music melodies with vocally driven compositions that seem to continually question social issues through story telling.
Join the congregation and enjoy a little Love In The Afternoon with the Church House Band and the Holy Roller Radio Players, along with a special musical guest Publish The Quest.
