Growing Home's 2011 Annual Benefit
Growing Home will begin it's 9th Annual Benefit this year on April 28, 2011 with a cocktail hour starting at 5:30 pm. A seated dinner will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. Television journalist and producer, Bill Kurtis will present a keynote address. Bill has been an advocate for the Chicago green movement, and of Growing Home in particular, and in 2005 founded Tallgrass Beef Company, the industry leader in grass-fed beef.
The event will honor Kathy Dickhut, Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Housing and Economic Development, for her long-time support of Growing Home, and the groundwork she has helped to lay for urban agriculture in Chicago.
Growing Home operates an innovative transitional employment program that leverages the economic power of an organic agriculture business to help reintroduce individuals, many who have been previously incarcerated or homeless, back into the workforce. Growing Home helps our participants find employment as well as fulfillment in healthier ways of life. The 9th Annual Benefit is sponsored by All Star Trading, the Boeing Company, The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, Open Door Advisors, Ms. Julie Bleicher, and Sommers & Fahrenbach Printing.
