Dancers push the boundaries of what is possible at Bellingham Repertory Dance's 9TH Anniversary spring production, Up|Rooted. The show will run for one weekend only, from May 29-31. Up|Rooted challenges both the dancers and the audience to re-imagine the impossible with intangible rope, intricate partner work, and costumes that literally lift the performers off the stage.

After an overwhelming show of support from our community in a crowdfunding campaign the company spearheaded at the close of 2014, Bellingham Repertory Dance (BRD) is presenting the much-anticipated new work commissioned from Seattle choreographer Mary Sheldon Scott (Molly Scott). While BRD usually presents works that have been previously performed elsewhere, this new work is made specifically for the dancers of Bellingham Repertory Dance. An unusual treat for Bellingham audiences, Scott's work measures 25 minutes in length and is a direct response to nuances of our dancers and community.

Complementing Scott's technically virtuosic style, the company is also presenting an excerpt from Bay-Area dancemaker Rachael Lincoln. "Fanciful whimsy and immaculate precision are not often as intricately intertwined" as they appear in Lincoln's humble choreographic style (DanceViewTimes).

Established in 2006 Bellingham Repertory Dance's mission is to bring professional-level performance to the dancers and audiences of Whatcom County, and to support established and emerging choreographers. The dancers of Bellingham Repertory Dance audition annually for the group, and many have performed professionally across the country.

Tickets are available at Village Books in Fairhaven, online at brownpapertickets.com, and at the door. Admission is $15 in advance and $20 at the door for. Additionally, $5 student rush tickets will be available 5 minutes before show-time. Advanced tickets are advised.
