WILLIAM WITHIN:
Originally the solo psych folk project of Alex Simpson, WILLIAM WITHIN made the transformation to five-piece band in 2012 with the addition of guitarist Tom Steffes, violinist Derek Rohlf, bassist Matt Blake (Gin Strings) and drummer Toby Ramaswamy (Sonic Intension, Aubades). The group released their debut self-titled full length later that year and will release their follow up EP in May 2015. The group's sound is filled with unusual guitar tunings, whispery vocals, lush orchestration and genre-bending arrangements, often earning them comparisons to Nick Drake, Other Lives, John Martyn, Andrew Bird and Grizzly Bear. Their forthcoming EP, which took two years and six studios to complete, offers the band's fullest, most confident sound to date.
