Liz Carroll
Liz Carroll is generally acknowledged to be America's greatest Irish fiddler, with 'Irish American Magazine' noting, she conjures up a dizzying mixture of the sweetest tones, the fastest runs and the most dazzling display of musicianship imaginable.' Her accolades are seemingly endless; All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, a National Fellowship Award winner, Indie Award winner, the first American-born Grammy nominee for playing Irish music and winner of the coveted 'Traditional Musician of the Year' from the 'Irish Echo.' Liz has also released several acclaimed albums with guitarist John Doyle, with whom she performed she performed at the White House on St. Patrick's Day in 2009 at the invitation of fellow Chicagoan, President Obama. It should be noted that Liz's recordings are in the majority her own delightful compositions, which have entered the repretoire of countless Irish and Celtic musicians and are staples of Irish sessions around the world. Tonight's concert, with a guitarist TBA, celebrates the publication of Liz's book, 'Collected,' which contains 185 of her captivating tunes and the stories behind them with copies on hand ready to be signed.
