Whispers from Armenia - Concert to Commemorate 100th Year of Armenian Genocide
In tribute to the indomitable spirit of the Armenian people, the Valley Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of its music director Michael H. Arshagouni, presents a concert honoring the struggle and the perseverance of this ancient and long-standing culture.
Works from the rich Armenian musical tradition and those inspired by it will be performed. Included in the program are:
Khachaturian -Gayane: Dances Tigranian - Anoush: final scene Arshagouni - Whispers from Armenia (premiere) Glinka - Ruslan and Lyudmila: Overture Ippolitov-Ivanov - Caucasian Sketches, Op.10 Ayvazyan - Yerevan Hovhannisian - Yerevan Erebuni
Joining the VSO will be the brilliant young Armenian soprano Anahit Grigoryan. As well, members of the combined LAVC College Choir and Philharmonic Choir will lend their voices.
