Scoring the Dynamics of Three-Dimensional Time and One-Dimensional Space

A composition, embodied as performance, is an elusive and ethereal little beast.

Working scores (graphic notations used in composing the duo's movement-based theater pieces) will be the centerpiece for this participatory workshop. We will perform excerpts of scored pieces in order to immediately demonstrate the relationship between score, performer and audience. Guided with discussion, we will then offer participants a space to experiment with making scores and uncovering the scores' performance techniques in order to see the possibilities for composition as they challenge the performing body. Open to all. Materials provided.
