Igor Begelman in Concert
On Sunday, May 20, clarinetist Igor Begelman performs at 1:00 p.m. at the JCC. Begelman was the 1994 winner of the Houston Symphony Ima Hogg Competition. His virtuosity and imagination on his instrument have been praised by critics as a âremarkable display of music makingâ (Daniel Webster, Philadelphia Inquirer). Raised in Kiev, Ukraine, Begelman came to the United States in 1989. He received his Masterâs degree from The Julliard School of Music. Equally accomplished as soloist and chamber musician, Begelman performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and has appeared at festivals throughout the world, including Tanglewood and Schleswig-Holstein. His Houston concert will feature the music of Jewish and Israeli composers.
