Rogue Barrister Records along with Three Angels Brewing proudly presents "Summer Solstice", the ultimate pairing of ground to glass brewed beverages and independent minded musicians on the cusp of greatness. Once again, the scenic Fox River will serve as the backdrop for this unique event in historic downtown Yorkville. In combining efforts with the United City of Yorkville and many other businesses in Downtown Yorkville this event stands to set a standard for Kendall County for years to come.
Festival organizers are significantly expanding this years festival. Taking a page from the highly successful Mile of Music festival in Appleton WI, this years event will incorporate multiple venues throughout Downtown Yorkville including two stages on the Riverfront as well as Rowdy's and Casa Santiago. Rogue Barrister Records will be curating all of the artists who will be performing on the various stages over the course of three days spanning from June 25-27. Admission for the vast majority of music will be free of charge. Building on the inaugural art exhibit of last year, this years art offering will be housed in the Law Office in Downtown Yorkville and will be open for patrons throughout the course of the festival. As always you can expect great craft beer available for purchase at all participating venues. With the purchase of a $5 wristband you'll be able to purchase beer and meander from venue to venue all while enjoying your beverage and the beautiful historic sights of Downtown Yorkville. 100% of all proceeds from the wristband sales will be used to support MusicandMemory.org by initiating local programs to provide music to seniors afflicted with alzheimers and dementia.
Cory Chisel, Andrew Combs, Los Colognes, The Treasures, Hayward Williams, Earl Burrows, Brent Brown, Ethan Bell Band, Calvin Conway, Tim Gleason, Jake Mack trio and more will anchor the stellar lineup of independent music over the course of the three day festival. New to the festival this year will be unique beer pairings with specific set times of the bands. We'll be tapping several very unique brews from several local breweries over the course of the festival. Three Angels Brewing along with Ale Syndicate, Solemn Oath , and Brooklyn Brewing will lead the brewers along with several more.
For the second year the festival will host a world class art festival with some of the most talented artists from the midwest and around the globe. World renown artist Jason Seiler will be on hand to showcase his one of a kind work and also conduct a workshop for young aspiring artists.
In partnership with the State Champion Yorkville Cross Country program, you'll be able to participate in a Friday night Solstice 6.5K run commencing and finishing right in the heart of Downtown Yorkville. Registration costs are $30 which includes one (1) solstice token (redeemable for a drink or food offerings from participating vendors), a wristband for attendees 21 and older, and a t-shirt. Medals will be awarded for top finishers.
For the adventurous type make sure to get your reservation early for a flotilla on the Fox River from Oswego to Yorkville. Participants will meet at Freeman's in downtown Yorkville where buses will transport to the launch site in Oswego at around noon and the armada of canoes will land at the festival site at a time directly related to the ambition of the individual paddlers. Admission fees include a canoe, pizza donated by Rosati's pizza, and wristband for alcohol purchase.
