Building A Sustainable Sonoma
Sonoma Ecology Center Celebrates 25 Years! Join us on Earth Day April 22nd for a Special Anniversary Program at Ramekins
Marking 25 years of preserving and protecting beautiful Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Ecology Center is hosting a special anniversary program on April 22 Earth Day from 5:00-8:00 pm, at Ramekins Culinary School and Inn in Sonoma. Building a Sustainable Sonoma What do we mean by a "Sustainable Sonoma"? What are we doing right? And what can be improved upon? Environmental journalist Glen Martin will pose these questions and others in a dynamic panel discussion featuring five Sonoma Valley leaders and innovators:
Mike Benziger-Managing general partner of Benziger Family Winery and Imagery Winery, Mike is a recognized leader in bio-dynamic farming and water conservation practices.
Caitlin Cornwall-Research Manager and Biologist at Sonoma Ecology Center, Caitlin is also a founding member of North Bay Climate Adaptation Initiative. Her expertise includes indicator-based reporting systems, climate adaptation, multi-benefit water management strategy, and riparian ecology.
Richard Dale-Executive Director and one of the founders of Sonoma Ecology Center as well as North Bay Climate Adaptation Initiative, Richard has 30 years experience in environmental policy, land negotiation and non-profit management.
Grant Davis-As General Manager, Sonoma County Water Agency, Grant provides leadership on water policies and works closely with local, state and federal agencies responsible for all aspects of water resources.
Glen Martin-Author, journalist and resident of Sonoma County, Glen covered environmental issues for the San Francisco Chronicle for 17 years.
Walter McGuire-President, the Environmental Policy Center, home of the Global Cities Project, a leading educational and research organization promoting sustainable communities. Walter was instrumental in building public awareness and participation campaigns for Earth Day 1990, the largest environmental event in U.S. history.
Pete Parkinson-Retired Director, Land Use Planning & Development for Sonoma County, Pete was responsible for all aspects of permitting and land use planning in unincorporated Sonoma County. Prior to this, Pete was the Environmental Coordinator and Principal Planner for Santa Cruz County.
