The Supplication to the Dakpo Kagyu
In Tibetan Buddhism, heartfelt prayers to one's spiritual teachers are considered an integral part of daily meditation practice. Devotional prayers and supplications open our hearts to the wisdom of the lineage and can help us to recognize the innate purity of our true nature. In the Karma Kagyu Lineage, The Supplication to the Takpo Kagyu is perhaps the most widely practiced devotional prayer. This short prayer captures the key points of meditation in a series of elegant verses. For centuries, it has been preserved and passed down from teacher to student as one of the treasures of Tibetan Buddhism. It is a rare opportunity to receive teachings on this prayer from His Holiness the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa, the head of the Karma Kagyu Lineage and one of the great living masters of this tradition.
