The Brooklyn Comedy Company proudly presents "Brunch & Blackness" with Elon James White.
White, host of the award winning web series "This Week in Blackness" comes to Washington, DC for one night only to break down the ridiculous as he does on the show. From personal anecdotes on race and family to pop culture and political analysis that has been featured on The Huffington Post, Salon and more. He's joined by the critically acclaimed Bassey Ikpi (5 Time HBO Def Poet) to bring a unique night of comedy and overall awesome.
About Elon James White:
Elon James White, Editor in Chief of ThisWeekinBlackness.com is a Brooklyn-based comedian, writer and host of the award-winning web series This Week in Blackness, a satirical look at race, politics and pop-culture in a so-called "Âpost-racial" America. White has been a featured commentator on Countdown with Keith Olbermann, VH1's Black to the Future & The Great Debate. Ã,ÂHis commentary on race and politics has been featured on CNN.com, Daily Kos, The Huffington Post, Giant Magazine, Alternet & The Root. Praised as "The perfect comedian for the Obama era, talking race while exploding racial stereotypes" by Dr. Melissa Harris-Perry on Politco.com & as "Precise, thought provoking and hilarious" by Daily Show creator Lizz Winstead, White continues to win accolades from critics, academia and audiences alike.

He is currently on a Post-Racial College Tour and a featured contributer on Salon & Newsone.
About Bassey Ikpi:
Bassey Ikpi is a Nigerian born poet/writer who has appeared on HBO's Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry a record 5 times. Her poetry has opened shows by Grammy Award winning artists. Bassey appeared on the NAACP Image Awards as part of a tribute to Venus and Serena Williams. She has also been a featured cast member of the National Touring Company of the Tony Award winning Broadway show, Russell Simmon'Ã,Âs Def Poetry Jam. Bassey was a part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Bassey has also been seen gracing the pages of magazines such as Nylon, Marie Claire, Glamour and Bust. She also recorded an original poem for the Kaiser Foundations, HIV/AIDS campaign, Knowing Is Beautiful. Bassey's personal and heartfelt work has made her a much sought after performer. She is currently working on various screenplays as well as freelance writing for social media outlets.
