Finn & The Sharks!!
The History of Blues to Rock series continues on Saturday April 18 at Union Arts Center!!!
The next installment of the History of Blues to Rock series will be on Saturday April 18th at Union Arts Center, where Finn and the Sharks will continue its exploration into the roots of the music they love to play.
Combining the influences that shaped American Rock'n'Roll from Delta Blues to Chicago Blues, from early Sun Records RnB recording artists to the Million Dollar Quartet (Elvis, Carl, Jerry Lee and Cash), from the Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly's Crickets to the Beatles, from 40's boogie woogie to the Rolling Stones and beyond. The band mixes little known facts, myths and legends re their heroes tracing the connections between various genres and styles.
Before the night is over Finn and the Sharks explode with their own original hybrid of all of the above. Union Arts provides a perfect venue in which to do this. Comfortably sit, listen and watch or get up and dance; whatever your pleasure may be.
Do not miss this Spring Fever Rockabilly Dance Party with Finn and the Sharks!! $20 online, $25 door students/senior $18 online, $20 door
"Among the finest working Rock'n'Roll bands on the American scene. "The members have long traversed with naturalness, the disparate boulevards and backroads of American popular culture. Rockabilly, Country, Blues, unadorned Rock'n'Roll Finn and the Sharks are fluent in all of them." DC Larson, Rockabilly Magazine, Texas.
"Despite not being widely known outside of the New York area, the name Finn & The Sharks should be carved in big letters in the modern rockabilly history book. Not to be missed". Rockabilly Girl UK
American roots influences come in varied flavors and hues -- from Memphis rockin' to urban R&B to rural country bop -- and Finn and the Sharks embrace all, standing as the latest torch-bearers of a cultural tradition that at once speaks through and transcends music. America could do a lot worse for Rock'n'Roll ambassadors." http://www.crackerjackmagazine.co.uk
"Finn & the Sharks were part of the neo-Rockabilly movement of the early '80s and recently released a CD with recordings from their heyday. Since then these accomplished musicians and songwriters kept playing (often with musical heroes like Carl Perkins, Bo Diddley and others). They are back and haven't lost their edge at all. More diverse than ever they present an appealing Roots Rock mix fueled by Rockabilly, Rock'n'Roll, a little bit of soul and Blues and Doo Wop." GMB Blue Suede News #78 Spring 2007
