Trinity Jazz Festival - 10th Annual
Concerts Friday, January 28, 2011 featuring Tia Fuller with opening by Erich Avinger, and Saturday, January 29, 2011, featuring Nestor Torres with opening by Greta Matassa. Pre-concert receptions include complimentary beverages and snacks accompanied by the music of winners of the Prestige Award - he Waltrip High School Jazz Band on Friday and Great Steps on Saturday.
Master Classes/Clinics will be held on Friday and Saturday, 12 Noon to 2 p.m. Lead on Friday by Tia Fuller and Saturday by Nestor Torres, students and fans are encouraged to come. Tickets are $10 cash or check at the door.
The weekend will culminate in Jazz Mass events on Sunday, January 30, at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm, featuring the original arrangements of Paul English with 8 guest musicians and a choir of over 15 members. The concerts and masses are held in the historic Trinity Church in midtown Houston. Built in the early 1900's the building takes advantage of the amazing acoustics in a venue more intimate than a theatre. Free Parking is available. Metro stop is Ensemble/HCC. The Trinity Jazz Festival is funded in part by grants from the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance.
