PAUL GROVE -- ROYAL WINTER MUSIC
Paul Grove will perform Hans Werner Henze's "Royal Winter Music" for solo classical guitar, along with other classical masterpieces. The concert will be held at the Linen Building in downtown Boise, ID on Wednesday, Dec. 8th 2010 at 7:30pm.
Praised by audiences, critics, composers and teachers as an outstanding performer on the classical guitar, Paul Grove made his professional debut in Philadelphia at age sixteen. He has performed for nearly 20 years as a soloist as well as a member of numerous ensembles, and has established an international reputation, playing in Canada, India, Brazil and Russia, as well as throughout the United States.
Some of Paul's significant appearances include the Eastern Music Festival, the Great Lakes Guitar Festival, the Guitar Northwest Festival, and the Second Guitar Congress. He has been a featured soloist with the Westminster Chamber Orchestra, the North Idaho Symphony, Allegro: Baroque and Beyond, and the Gonzaga University Symphony Orchestra.
He has been awarded prizes at several national and international competitions, including the Ponce Competition, the Norman Sholin Memorial Competition, and the Peabody Concours Competition. He recently performed at the Brazilian Cultural Institute in Washington D.C.
Dr. Grove began his guitar studies at the Peabody Conservatory while in high school. His Doctorate is from the University of Arizona. He is the professor of guitar at Gonzaga University and also teaches at Whitworth College.
