The Motherf**ker With The Hat
by Stephen Adly Guirgus
Opening April 16th, 2015, for a ten-performance run over three weekends.

SPECIAL EXTRA PERFORMANCE ADDED APRIL 30 BY POPULAR DEMAND!

2011 Tony Nominee for Best Play

Addiction, emotional turmoil, and hair-trigger tempers do not sound like the stuff of side-splitting comedy, yet in Motherf**ker with the Hat, Stephen Adly Guirgis has created a brazen, hilariously funny play that earned six Tony Award nominations, including one for Best Play, when it opened on Broadway in 2011. The author once described his dark comedy as "a high-octane verbal cage match about love, fidelity, and misplaced haberdashery", a description that perfectly captures the odd mix of humor, violence, and poignancy that underlies the action.

The story revolves around Jackie, an alcoholic and petty drug dealer just out of prison.  Determined to create a healthy new life for himself, he's found a job, he's on the path to full recovery, and he's home to celebrate with his woman, Veronica. Yeah, he's the man now. He can get career advancement. He sees a bright, sober future with income, and he also sees...a hat. Some other man's hat. Right there. On the table. His table. His bed.

CAUTION!
The characters in this play fight hard to find love and friendship--much like the rest of us--but they express themselves in the rawest of language, since that, after all, is the culture they grew up in. In other words, as the author put it: "This play has a lot of curse words. But in between the colorful expletives, it's my hope that you'll see the characters as interesting, human, and pretty funny."
