Comedian Scott Hansen returns from retirement to take the comedy stage at the Don Hansen VFW in Ham Lake.
One-Night- Only Show also marks comedians return to life in Anoka County.

In December of 2014 I announced my retirement from performing comedy due to health issues. Arthritis in my joints, but specifically the vertebrae in my neck and spine, has made live performance very painful and difficult.
My withdrawal came with a few stipulations. One stipulation was the idea that I would be able to afford to retire. Bills and costs associated with children and grandchildren do not stop with the termination of income. I knew that I would need to still do a few shows to pay the bills.
My second stipulation for retirement was that I would somehow be able to do a series of farewell shows with some of my favorite comedy friends. While the response from comedians has been resounding, I have had setbacks due to a more rapid progression of the arthritis that originally caused my need to quit performing. The planning, scheduling and my ability to perform has been delayed as I have had to deal with health and personal issues that have limited my ability to schedule the events or even make it possible for me to do a few shows to keep my comedy chops.
I am still planning an extremely large comedy event, which will resemble a Comedy Gallery reunion and include many of the stars that helped shape Minnesota comedy.
One of the issues that my family has had to deal with is finding a home that has easy access for my limited mobility. That search has ended and has brought me home to Anoka County. In fact, our new, step-free, single-level home is only a few miles from my parent's first Minnesota homestead.
So this show is very special for me. I'm back at the VFW named after my father. I'm working my way back on stage as a performer. And I'm almost home again.
I'm not trying to be a whiner or beg for sympathy. I am just trying to keep you and my fans informed.
The arthritis has made traveling for shows impossible. I cannot drive or even sit for extended periods. I am going to make occasional attempts to perform at benefits and fund-raisers. I will also make sporadic attempts to put a few bucks in my pocket. Hopefully, some of the changes I am making (accessible home) will make the shows easier to do.
