In Greek mythology, Thalia ("thuh-LYE-uh") is one of the nine Muses who inspire poets and musicians to create their art. In the Seattle music world, Thalia, founded in 1949 and now conducted by Stephen Rogers Radcliffe, is a brand new musical voice at Town Hall, and the orchestra's first concert of the season includes Ravel's Mother Goose Suite; Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, featuring violinist Sofia Stoyanovich; and Pictures at an Exhibition (Mussorgsky, arr. Ravel).
