On his first day as Executive Editor of the struggling Kansas City Herald, Joe Clarke approves an editorial cartoon that lampoons Creationism. Soon, local religious leaders, the community, and most importantly, the advertisers, rise up in revolt. The idealistic new editor is determined not to retract and clutches to his belief in the freedom of the press and must suffer the consequences, both expected and unexpected, in an intolerant, violent world. In Theatre Tribe's new world premiere, Heralds, directed by Stuart Rogers, censorship (both past and very present) threatens to silence the voice of independent journalism, and maybe, all of us.
