War of the Worlds
The Improv Playhouse Radio Players present the "War of the Worlds" on the 72nd Anniversary of the original Mercury Theatre Broadcast. Starring Orson Welles, the original performance aired on October 30th, 1938 - it was adapted from the H.G. Wells novel. And in 2005 Steven Spielberg directed a film adaptation with Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, and Tim Robbins among others. When the original radio performance aired it was presented in such a realistic manner and without commercial interruption that listening audiences were panicked and thought that the piece was real (especially if they had tuned in late to the broadcast and missed the introduction). Come on out to Improv Playhouse to hear this Classic of the Golden Age in living technicolor of the mind! The IP Radio Players are celebrating the anniversary with this one time only performance! Seating is limited, so order your tickets early before it sells out!
