Tasty Tuesday: Cooking with Tomatoes
Tomato season is here! This is, hands-down, our most highly anticipated harvest. Nothing is better than a vine-ripened tomato and it simply isn't the same to eat them out of season.

With all the heirloom varietals available, we thought it might be helpful to go through the ins and outs of the tomato rainbow at farm stands these days. Is a beefsteak better for making sauce, or a green zebra? Are cherry tomatoes or black brandywines going to be sweeter for your summer caprese? Does color matter anyhow?

In this Tasting Tuesday, brought to you by Parker Red and Brooklyn Grange, it's all about tomatoes in any form.  We'll start with a tasting tour of the farm, where we'll harvest from our hundreds of vines, then settle in for a tomato tasting. At their natural temperature, fresh off the vine, you'll notice subtleties in flavor profiles and textures of the tomato like never before; sweetness, acidity, earthiness, and fruity notes all shine through.

From there, we'll head down to Parker Red's commercial kitchen to transform Brooklyn Grange tomatoes into universally-loved dishes. You'll learn how to create a perfectly balanced sauce for grandma-style pizza and a zingy pomodoro. Parker Red's chef will also teach you how to build YOUR kind of bloody mary, layering spice, heat, and refreshing notes with freshly squeezed tomato juice. Brunch will never be the same!

After snacking on your culinary creations, you'll take home a few tomato-bases to recreate these same dishes at home.
