Peter Singer presents The Most Good You Can Do
In conversation with Michael Specter of the New Yorker
At St. Joseph's College, Tuohy Hall*
Tickets $25 (includes book)

Philosopher, academic and activist Peter Singer first became well-known internationally after the publication of Animal Liberation in 1975, and is often described as the world's most influential living philosopher.

His new book, The Most Good You Can Do: How Effective Altruism is Changing Ideas About Living Ethically presents the ideas behind "effective altruism," a challenging new movement of people who want to live more altruistically, and to make sure that what they do has the greatest possible impact for good.  Singer offers a critique of traditional philanthropy, and puts a human face to the practice of effective altruism with dozens of people who have made the conscious decision to give as much as they can to those who have much less.

Singer will discuss the ideas in his new book with Michael Specter, who writes about science, technology, and global public health for The New Yorker, for this exclusive New York event.  Each ticket includes a copy of the book.  A book signing follows this event, which takes place at St. Joseph's College, Tuohy Hall.

Greenlight Bookstore will donate 20% of all book and ticket sales for this event to GiveDirectly, which is recommended by Singer and one of GiveWell's top-rated charities
