Deborah Slater Dance Theatre: LINE OF BEAUTY
Deborah Slater Dance Theatre LINE OF BEAUTY draws as its starting point the philosophical, poetic and theoretical investigations of poet Diane Ackerman and painter William Hogarth. The working title comes from Hogarth's essay on the Line of Beauty, in which he theorizes that S-shaped curved lines signify liveliness and activity. Beauty here refers to that which can be seen, touched, tasted, heard and felt which is similarly espoused in Ackerman's poems. DSDT showcases a dynamic performance inviting viewers to experience the present moment and awakens each of their sensory faculties. The intimate, shared experience reinforces our primal need for connection told not through technology but through interaction with one another and the material world.
