The Bridge Ensemble presents its inaugural concerts over the weekend of March 28th and 29th, 2015.
Program: Arvo Pärt: The Woman With the Alabaster Box david lang: oh graveyard (lay this body down) Tomas Luis de Victoria: Tenebrae Responsories for Maundy Thursday John Tavener: Song for Athene Paul Mealor: Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal
In this program we will explore texts about betrayal, death, and rebirth as viewed through a lens focused on the archetypal imagery of flowers.
This program will be presented twice, on Saturday night, March 28th, at Mt. Calvary Catholic Church in Baltimore at 7PM, and on Sunday night, March 29th, at Epiphany Episcopal Church in Timonium at 7:30PM.
The Bridge aims to connect the musical and textual similarities between pre-17th century choral music and music written in the late-20th and 21st centuries, engaging their audience in innovative and thoughtful programming through their sound and spirit.
