Homegrown Roots Reggae band Thrive will return to Arena Theater for their Gratitude Attitude CD release party on Friday, October 22 at 8:30 PM. Doors open at 7:30 PM.
The evening will also feature Covered in Butter as opening act. Band members Jake Stillman (bass), Jordan Gallagher (guitar) and George Frost (drums) started out as a local high school garage band called High Life. Now based in San Francisco, Covered in Butter is strongly influenced by classic rock but also plays funk, reggae, and ska.
California Reggae band Thrive is pioneering a unique sound in the ever-growing genre of Reggae/Rock music. In a world of clubs and bars, where patrons demand "Free Bird" and "Sweet Home Alabama", Thrive is carving a new musical niche within multiple musical markets. "We've worked hard to maintain our originality" says guitarist/vocalist Aaron Borowitz who founded the group in early 2008. "Each Member has such different taste in music and that translates through our sound".
Thrive is the collaboration of the musical talents of Aaron Borowitz (guitar and vocals), Kenneth Rogers (drums and vocals), Greg Medieros (bass and cowbell), and Matt O'Connor (keyboard). In just two years, Thrive has shared the stage with performers such as SOJA, Tribal Seeds, Rootz Underground, Ooklah The Moc, Anthony B, Tarrus Riley. The band has played at Moe's Alley, The Catalyst, Pipeline Cafe, as well as many other venues across California and Hawaii. Songs like Sweet Love and If I Want To are now playing on Hawaii radio stations like Oahu's Island 98.5 and Maui's Q103. Their 2008 self-titled EP is available exclusively on iTunes.
Tickets are $ 15.00. They are available online at www.arenatheater.org and at local ticket vendors. Arena Theater's local ticket vendors are Sea Trader and Four-Eyed Frog in Gualala; Arena Market and The Pier Chowder House and Tap Room in Point Arena; Tangents in Fort Bragg.
