Songs of the Sea Concert by Geoff Kaufman aboard the tall ship Gazela
Penn's Landing Philadelphia, PA
Geoff Kaufman gave his first concert aboard the tall ship Gazela in 2008, and those who were lucky enough to attend have been patiently awaiting his return. Geoff's concert will include a variety of 18th and 19th century songs of the sea and sea shanties, presented on the perfect stage: the wide decks of the historic wooden square-rigger GAZELA, the oldest such vessel in America still actively sailing.
Geoff Kaufman is one of America's best known maritime musicians. His long-term association with Mystic Seaport Museum included management of 19th century sailors' music at the museum. He also directs the annual Sea Music Festival, the largest event of its kind in America.
Note: The tall ship Gazela will be docked in front of the Independence Seaport Museum. No handicapped access possible. Restrooms are available but require descending a steep stairway. Concert will be held rain or shine unless rain is heavy and sustained. Call our office at 215-238-0280 on day of the concert if weather is doubtful. Once online ticketing closes, tickets will still be available at Gazela.
