DETOUR presents Election Music
Most of DETOUR's pieces are based on political speeches, originally given by everyone from JFK to William McKinley, from Harvey Milk to Sarah Palin, from Charlie Chaplin's caricature of Hitler to 19th-century eclectic Emperor Norton I. A few are more abstract, reflecting on the politic process purely through music. Some include electronics, some include video, some are purely acoustic!
The composers involved include Jeremy Howard Beck, Seth Bedford, Robbie Elfman, Lainie Fefferman, T.L. Hine, Brian Mark, Matt Marks, Angelica Negron, Joseph F Rubinstein. Tom Swafford, and Alex Temple.
