Riverplains Full Moon Farm to Table Dinner
This farm to table dinner will feature an early fall harvest dinner under the stars and the full moon with a bonfire and live music. Once again all the ingredients will be sourced and grown in Jefferson county and prepared by Jennifer Niceley and Anna Niceley Barreiro.
The evening will begin at 6:30 with a fall cocktail featuring Prichard's Rum, a Tennessee produced rum and Riverplains whole spelt Bruschetta with handmade cheese spreads and pickled root vegetables.
Dinner will be served at 7:30 and accompanied by local home brew beer. We will start with Texas Indian MuscHata squash and fire-roasted bell pepper soup in a chicken stock base, with hints of freshly ground coriander and thyme. For the main course we will have A mixture of Riverplain's 100% grass-fed Senepol Beef brisket and roasts marinated in blackberry vinegar, blackberry cordial and pickling spice berries, slow cooked and drizzled with gravy, served with Shitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, and mixed fall greens braised in olive oil. Accompanied by baskets of Rosemary-Garlic Hickory Cane Corn Muffins, an assortment of Muscadine and Hot Pepper Jellies and handmade cow's milk butter. Dessert will be iron skillet corn-flour apple cobbler topped with freshly whipped cream.
Riverplains has been a working farm for many years and part of the Niceley family since the early 1940's. The farm is located in Jefferson County and surrounded on two sides by the Holston River. In the last few years Jennifer Niceley and her family have begun the shift to sustainable agriculture, producing organically grown vegetables, corn meal, spelt flour, grass fed beef and dairy products for friends and family. Everything on this menu will come from the farm and Jefferson County except for the spices!
