With little sentimentality and a lot of wit, The Gin Game tells the story of an unlikely pair of seniors who perpetually architect their own misery even as they cling to the notion that they are among life's victims. The cards become a metaphor for the increasing complexity of what's going on between Weller and Fonsia – two people loaded down with a lifetime of baggage who long to be winners just once before time runs out.
