SINGLE-SESSION PROGRAM - Avian Adventures: Our Local Birds, Migratory Miracles (K-5th grades)
The Hudson River is a major migratory route and home to hundreds of birds that overwinter with us. Observe and identify birds in their wild habitats. Participate in interactive games and activities that help student recognize what makes a bird a bird, how to identify the parts and functions of various species, how birds communicate, and how their behaviors contribute to natural systems. With the insights students gain once they recognize the biological structure of birds, they examine the work of contemporary artists to experience birds from different perspective.
