The Anatomy of Vince Guaraldi at Barndall Gallery Theater
Earlier this summer, the Jazz Bakery premiered this feature-length documentary to a packed house. It generated such acclaim that we arranged to present an encore screening for all those who missed it.
Winner of several Best Documentary Awards (Park City, Colorado Film Fest) and a featured event at the last Monterey Jazz Festival, "Anatomy" features never-before-seen footage of Guaraldi, plus performances and intimate recollections from Dave Brubeck, Dick Gregory, George Winston, John Handy, Irwin Corey, David Benoit, Malcolm Boyd, Paul Krassner and many, many more.
Scored from Guaraldi's recently discovered collection of personal tapes, the film is an unconventional look at the man, his music, and the serendipity that defined his career -- from "Cast Your Fate To The Wind" to the scores for the Peanuts specials, and the revolutionary Jazz Mass at Grace Cathedral.
Produced by award-winning "cultural anthropologist" Andrew Thomas and Toby Gleason (son of famed jazz writer Ralph J. Gleason), "The Anatomy of Vince Guaraldi" is a treat you shouldn't miss!
