SPF: The Biscuiteater
Part of SPF (Solo Performance Festival) 2015 $12 advanced, $15 walk-up. Show at 7:30pm, doors at 7pm
Jim Loucks brings his new rollicking, heartfelt solo performance to the SPF at theatre off Jackson after its premiere at the FronteraFest in Austin and a run at the Oahu Fringe.
The Biscuiteater is a one-man show written and performed by Jim Loucks, based loosely on his childhood, told in his Southern storytelling style with songs and humor. Granddaddy was his hero, a big man with a bigger personality, haunted by demons from his days as Chief of Police in small-town Georgia. A moving tribute to an imperfect hero, it examines the changing attitudes around violence and guns and what it means to be a man.
Jim Loucks has recently been traveling the country with his previous solo show, Cemetery Golf.
"Loucks is an excellent performer, and theatergoers should watch for him in any future shows. The Biscuiteater is recommended for all." Dr Dave Robinson, Central Texas Live Theatre
Jim Loucks has performed his first solo show Cemetery Golf around the country to critical acclaim, including the Cincy Fringe where he received a Critic's Pick from the Cincinnati Citybeat, and the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York, where he will return to perform The Biscuiteater this September.
