The Meeting by Jeff Stetson
The story, set in the 1960's, is about a meeting between Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and Malcolm "X". It is amazing to hear the words spoken by these two Civil Rights Giants from the past, yet still be on point to where we are today.
In lieu of the recent, widely publicized, murderous acts against young Black men, THE MEETING is a must-see. The violent acts recounted by Malcolm and Dr. King are hauntingly similar to the crimes committed against Africans in the diaspora today. While theater is entertaining, it is my duty as the founder of the Kennie Playhouse Theater, to educate; being committed to excellence while serving as an artistic vehicle for the same change Brother Malcolm and Dr. King died for.
If you come see The MEETING, you would receive a riveting production that gracefully takes us into the lives of revolutionaries who shifted our world. It successfully teaches us our beloved history through what could have been the conversation between Dr. King and Brother Malcolm, as mere men. THE MEETING is a strong bridge standing between our generations; audiences, young and seasoned will appreciate gaining understanding by crossing it, together.
This play is Directed by Chuck Smith, Resident Director of The Goodman Theatre, Chicago, IL. The cast includes Kenny Dozier, Willie Robbins, III, and Michael "Diallo" McLendon.
This a story that from our past that makes you think about your future. THE MEETING is ...must see Theater!
