Synchronicity: Ayre by Osvaldo Golijov
Mobtown Modern combines spoken word with historic text in the second installment of Synchronicity, our companion concert series with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, in a performance of Osvaldo Golijov's ecstatic multicultural song cycle Ayre. Initially written as a companion piece to Luciano Berio's Folk Songs, Ayre expresses the intermingling of three cultures, Arab, Christian, and Jewish. The piece illustrates the varying degrees of coexistence and conflict among these groups that have continued into the present. Accomplished and versatile soprano Lara Bruckmann will be the soloist.
