The Lady's Not for Burning
Laughter, love, witchcraft, and mayhem abound in Lumina Studio Theatre's Ensemble production of Christopher Fry's THE LADY'S NOT FOR BURNING.
In the early Renaissance town of Cool Clary, the world-weary soldier Thomas arrives with a simply request - to be hanged as soon as possible, the scholar Jennet, accused of being a witch, flees from locals seeking to burn her at the stake, and the Mayor demands that both problems disappear so his little village may return to its peaceful state.
Two brothers, Humphrey and Nicholas, vie for the hand of the beautiful Alizon. Their mother, Margaret worries the mud covered Humphrey may not be attractive to his betrothed Alizon. The Chaplain and the Inquisitor both seek an end to the crisis through their different interpretations of religion.
Lumina's talented Ensemble brings one of the great romantic comedies of the 20th century story to the stage. A wonderful play of language and humanity.
