Notations 21 with Microkingdom and Quartet Offensive
Pictures are worth a thousand words—or notes—as Mobtown Modern illustrates with Notations 21. Inspired by author and musicologist Theresa Sauer's book of the same name, the performance is dedicated to graphic scores, or music that is performed using visual cues or symbols rather than standard musical notation. Featured on the concert is a definitive reading of Baltimore composer/musician Will Redman's expansive Book by local avant/math-rock and jazz heavy-hitters Microkindgom and Quartet Offensive. Ms. Sauer will lead a pre-concert discussion about her book.
