2nd Annual RISE Conference
The 2nd annual RISE conference is coming to NYC on October 23, 2010!
The RISE conference is an all-day event empowering social work students, professionals and social justice activists to become effective agents of change. Building off of the success of the 2009 conference, this year will feature even more opportunities to discuss progressive and radical ideas about broad social problems.
The 2010 conference will have over 25 workshops, 300 participants, opportunities to build skills to address institutionalized oppression, and many chances to connect with fellow activists. Sessions include: Theater of the Oppressed, Racial Microagressions, US Imperialism, and Radical Case Management. Speakers from the organizations RightRides, the NYCLU, Radical Doulas, Bellevue Survivors of Torture Program, the Antiracist Alliance, and more will be joining us.
The 2nd annual RISE Conference takes place on Saturday, October 23, 2010, from 9AM to 6PM. The conference will be held at a Harlem community center, the Police Athletic League. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
High school students are invited to attend for free. Email register@riseconference to reserve space for youth.
***Please note, when you register you will be asked to answer a short questionnaire about your workshop preferences and some brief demographics questions. This is to ensure that the conference reflects RISE's commitment to diversity. Email info@riseconference.org if you have any questions about this.***
